Many countries around the world are putting in place special measures to welcome and ease the access of Ukrainian nationals specifically to the labour market. Most European countries have announced such measures. The European Commission has activated the “Temporary Protection Directive”, which offers quick and effective assistance to people fleeing the war in Ukraine, granting temporary protection in the EU, meaning that they will be given a residence permit, and they will have access to education and to the labour market, outside of the regular asylum procedure. How this is organized exactly differs between Member States, and may still change over time.
